I am Goran, and this is my blog
My name is Goran. I am an aspiring writer, musician, comedian, photographer, and who the hell knows what else. Jack of very few trades, master of even fewer. I love making self deprecating jokes, because if you can’t make fun of yourself, I don’t think you have any right to make fun of anyone else. And I fucking LOVE making fun of other people.
This is my blog. It’s a loose collection of articles that generally started as really long Facebook comments. I love getting into it with people on Facebook and arguing about all sorts of shit. I can’t help it; it’s stronger than me. This has caused an unotld number of my friends to unfollow me, and I can't say I blame them. But I don't do this for them; I do it because I'm a sicko and I don't know any better. This has been known to lead to some rather long, and at least in my opinion, well thought out comments. But going to all that trouble, just for something you put a lot of thought into writing to disappear into an ocean of nonsense can be disheartening. So I decided to start this blog. This way, any time I catch myself writing a comment that’s way too long to be sensible, I simply copy and paste it into a text file, for it to later be turned into a blog post. How often this actually works out, I think you can tell by the number of actual articles on the damn site. If there is one thing I love more than getting into pointless long winded Facebook debates, it’s procrastinating.
I do genuinely. care about the things I write. This blog gives me the space to write things that are more thought out and better researched than a Facebook comment. I can take my time and really work on a piece until I am happy with it. I understand how having my own blog where I write long winded opinion articles makes me look like someone who likes to sniff their own farts. And maybe I am. It is what it is. But there’s a reason the tagline on this site is “a guy and his blog” and not “a collection of facts from a subject matter expert.” I am not an expert in any of the subjects about which I write, but I do find those subjects very interesting and like thinking and reading about them. That doesn’t make me an expert, but I do try to be more informed than your average Joe. How successful I am in this endeavor, you can judge for yourself.
I put a lot of time and effort into my writinig and I hope people read it and enjoy it. I encourage all readers to engage with the topic and leave a comment if so inclined. I welcome spirited debate and believe that regardless of how much you read about a given subject, there's always room to learn. Even encountering a slightly different perspective can be an invaluable learning experience. That being said, this is my blog that I started for my own pleasure, and if I don't like a particular comment, I may very well choose to delete it. Don't like it? Start your own fucking blog. You can call me an asshole there.
